Wine of the Week: Va Piano Bruno’s Blend II
I’ve been waiting for a long time to drink a bottle of this, and tonight seemed like the perfect occasion to open up this Christmas gift.
From Va Piano: This special blend is in honor of Father Bruno Segatta. Father Bruno’s artistry and passion for living has been an inspiration to countless individuals over many decades, and his unshakable optimism and compassion has left a lasting impact on all who meet him. His humanitarian outreach efforts take him around the globe, from Africa to the United States and back to his native country, Italy. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this wine will help support Fr. Bruno’s outreach.
What I think: Father Bruno means an awful lot to me, and its great to see his artwork on the label and legacy associated with this really good wine. Drinking this blend brings back the countless good times we’ve had with Father Bruno… "take a left, another left and you are there," as he’d often say. Yaww Doood. The good folks at Va Piano, having met them only briefly, are producing some great wines. II is very balanced, my wife and I caught some berry and vanilla flavors throughout and just the right amount of dry and sweet sensation. The syrah portion of this syrah/merlot/cab blend stood up nicely against the spicy, Asian-inspired marinated pork tenderloin we had for dinner. We look forward to trying a bottle of Bruno’s Blend III, which debuted this past fall.
