Portteus Bistro Red 2005
This wine jumped out of my glass tonight and screamed “dont forget about cabfranc!” At nearly 50% cabernet franc this wine has bordeaux tendencies. According to the good wikipedia:
“Cabernet Franc is lighter than Cabernet Sauvignon (of which it is a parent),[2] contributing finesse and a peppery perfume to blends with more robust grapes. Depending on growing region and the style of wine, additional aromas can include tobacco, raspberry, and cassis, somtimes even violets. The Cabernet franc wine’s color is bright pale red.”
Time to go out and try some more CabFranc - check out Portteus’ website and their vineyards if you ever find yourself wine tasting in Zillah Washington.
