East Coast Bias
Today, the NW took center stage on the national sports scene. Its always great to see a couple local stories on the ESPN home page which is usually cluttered with coverage of the overhyped teams from New York or clowns from the great state of Texas. Here’s why today mattered for the NW:
1. the Seattle Seahawks squaked their way past the Dallas Cowboys as Tony Romo’s nervousness got the best of his hands, and he fumbled away the hold on a go-ahead field goal with only 1:00 and change left in the game. The hawks won 21-20.
2. the Oregon Ducks knocked off the undefeated and top ranked UCLA Bruins on the mens basketball hardwood.
3. the Cougs pulled off an upset in Pullman over the Arizona Wildcats. Truly an upside down day in the Pac 10.
And the games that personally mattered to me: The Zags got off the schnide and ended a 4 game losing streak by dismantling the Lions of Loyola Marymount. Its good to be home and its good to be playing in a second rate conference. Go Zags!
Also, I attended the UW/ASU basketball game this afternoon, and much to the dismay of my wife (an ASU grad) the Devils fell the Huskies after staying close for much of the contest.
