Wine of the Week #8
This wine is another vino di tavola rosso blended from the following grapes: Syrah, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Mourvedre.
Julie Gates, a big fan of the Cline Cellars, recommended this wine. Thanks Julie!
According to them: 2004 was a warm year and an early harvest. The grapes arrived in excellent condition and rewarded us with wines that have great color and intense flavors. Rains held off until after the grapes were harvested. Medium-bodied and delicious flavors of dark berries, licorice and chocolate with smooth tannins. Red truck pairs well with pizza and tomato based dishes.
According to me: This was one of those bottles that just kept getting better with each glass. Often wines need time to open up and this one especially seemed to get better and better the more air it was exposed to. I really enjoyed the berry flavors and found this wine to be a nice change from the very dry sangiovese I had last week.
