Wine of the Week #11
Last night Liz and I ventured up to our favorite place to enjoy a glass of wine in Seattle - Maple Leaf Cellar. Owners Jill and Paul were hosting a “Sideways” party with a bunch of folks geeking out on 5 very different Pinot Noir’s benifiting Relay for Life. My pick among the 5 for wine of the week goes to:
Rex Hill Pinot Noir “Oregon” 2004

According to Rex Hill: This garnet colored wine reveals aromas of crushed violets, vanilla and baking spices. Flavors include rich black cherry, ripe blackberry and hints of black pepper. The finish is long, velvety and voluptuous.
According to Me: For me, this was the most pleasant pinot of the bunch. Jill, the friendly owner of Maple Leaf Cellars referred to it as delicate, and I think that’s an appropriate characterization. More than anything, I enjoyed this Pinot because it reminded me of a weekend spent with friends in the Williamette Valley last fall.
Sean,
Thanks so much for the props! Glad you loved the Rex Hill. As you know, we do too! Looking forward to seeing you and Liz again soon.
