Rediculous
I just read this artcle by Ben Romano of The Seattle Times - Turf war: Texas A&M tells Hawks to back off on 12th Man.
Basically Texas A&M has issued a cease-and-desist order to the Seahawks, claiming that the Univestity of Texas A&M holds the phase “12th Man” too very dear to their hearts for it to be drug through the mud by a measly professional football team making their first ever appearance in the Super Bowl.
Texas A&M is just bitter that they haven’t beaten the Longhorns in years, and that all of their sports teams have spun deep into mediocrity.
The Seahawks retired the number 12 before the Aggies copyrighted “The 12th Man.” Go Hawks, one more week to the Super Bowl!
I couldn’t agree more. The Seahawks, when I first heard they had adopted the whole “12th Man” symbol, well…honestly, it made me sick to my stomach. Not because of what it stands for, but because being from Texas (and a tried-and-true Longhorn), I can’t stand Texas A&M and their stupid traditions. Their cease-and-desist request is ridiculous, and goes to show that there is nothing better to do in College Station, Texas, than to make up songs about “T.U.” and file frivolous lawsuits. They should all go figure out how to build a big bonfire that won’t collapse.
