I just finished reading Blink by Malcolm Gladwell, and would recommend it to anyone interested in slicing it thin (moments that is, not proscuitto or salame). For Gladwell, it all comes down to what he calls thin slicing, or making sense of the amazing amount of data processed by our brains in the blink of an eye. He discusses some really interesting marketing efforts to be cautious of, and also how our faces dictate emotions- even when we are not aware of it.
He brilliantly weaves in stories of police shootouts, car salesmen, heart attacks, marriage counselors, and modern military failures to illustrate his points and boil down a lot of complicated research.
Next on my book list The World is Flat.
